Oil production in Georgia has been at its highest level since 2015. According to the data of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC), last year, 39.1 thousand tons of crude oil were extracted in Georgia. In 2021, this figure was 35.3 thousand tons.
22.06 thousand tons out of the extracted oil belonged to the investors, while 17.04 thousand tons - to the government. The government usually sells its share of oil at an auction. Oil extracted in Georgia is of Georgian Light and Georgian Heavy types.
In 2009-22, 2009 was distinguished by oil extraction, when the oil volume was 57.6 thousand tons.
