Trade between Georgia and the United States of America increased by 45.2%. According to the official statistics of January-July 2022, the USA ranks fifth with a 6.5% share among the largest trade partners of Georgia and consequently, the trade turnover between the countries increased to $659.8 million.
As for the export and import statistics between countries, during this period, $471.8 million were transferred from Georgia to America for the purchase of various goods, which is 28.9% higher indicator than last year. The USA ranks fourth in the top ten largest importing countries of Georgia. As for the imported goods, the largest share of the imports is occupied by light vehicles. The TOP-10 items purchased by Georgia in the USA within 7 months are as follows:
1. Passenger cars - $418.7 million;
2. Poultry meat and food by-products - $5.6 million, 5 434 tons;
3. Solid waste - $4 million, 7 234 tons;
4. Used clothes and products - $3 million, 219 tons;
5. Frozen fish - $2.7 million, 1 432 tons;
6. Food products, not specified elsewhere - $2 million, 48 tons;
7. Yachts and other floating facilities for leisure or sports - $1.8 million, 37 tons;
8. Mixed goods - $1.7 million;
9. Polymers of vinyl chloride or others - $1.7 million dollars, 908 tons;
10. Cosmetics or makeup and skin care products - $1.7 million dollars, 40 tons.
In addition to these goods, motorcycles and bicycles, binoculars and other optical tubes, medical equipment, special purpose vehicles and other goods were imported to Georgia from the USA during this period.
Despite the fact that exports to the USA have a small share in trade turnover, in the first 7 months of 2022, the income from goods sold in this direction increased by 115.2% and amounted to 187.9 million US dollars. In this case, the USA is among the largest trade partners of Georgia with a share of 6.1%, and it occupies the seventh place. The main sales goods are ferroalloys. As for the TOP-10 export goods, their ranking is as follows:
1. Ferroalloys - $170.9 million, 73 996 tons;
2. Diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor devices - $4.5 million, 565 tons;
3. Natural grape wines - $3.1 million, 489 tons;
4. Fruit and vegetable juices - $1.5 million, 985 tons;
5. Parts of flying machines - $1.2 million, 3 tons;
6. Mineral and fresh waters - $889 thousand, 1.6 tons;
7. Fruits and nuts with or without sugar additives - $802 thousand, 257 tons;
8. Plastic products for transporting or packing goods - $701 thousand, 237 tons;
9. Waters, including mineral and carbonated waters, containing sugar additives - $618 thousand, 709 tons;
10. Furniture and its parts - $379 thousand, 42 tons.
In addition, a small amount of cheese, ethanol, ready-made sauces and mustard, light cars and other products were exported to the USA from Georgia.
