“The Government of Georgia, and in particular, the Ministry of Economy, is intensively working on the so-called additional transit flows from Kazakhstan passing through Georgia,” - the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia said at the briefing held after the government meeting.
"We held high-level meetings with the leadership of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. We discussed exactly these issues - when it comes to making the countries rich in mineral resources become more interested in the Georgian corridor. It is part of this work process that the ministerial meeting on transport planned for tomorrow in Tbilisi, which the ministers of Turkey and Azerbaijan will participate in. The discussion at the meeting will concern the issues of increasing the competitiveness of these transit opportunities and the middle corridor. However, the process includes many nuances, which the parties are actively working on.
The work process related to these issues is going on so intensively as never before. The opportunities are quite large, however, a lot depends on how the countries participating in the corridor will work in sync with each other and how well the infrastructure and services will be on the one hand," - said Levan Davitashvili.
