“Georgia will move forward to Europe with Christianity, sovereignty, and dignity,” - the Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Irakli Kobakhidze, said.
The Georgian Dream Chairman explained at the briefing that without protection from spies, Georgia would lose sovereignty and would not become a full-fledged EU member.
“We should acknowledge that we won’t be able to walk into Europe with one leg,” - Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Irakli Kobakhidze pledged to resume discussions over the so-called Foreign Agents bill only after the Venice Commission provided its opinion, in several months.
To be reminded, the Georgian Parliament adopted the People’s Power-tabled draft bill on Transparency of Foreign Influence in its first reading, with 76 votes in favour and 13 against on March 7.
