“This year, we signed a contract with one of the very successful American marketing companies, which implements the Georgian wine promotion events in the United States market. Within the framework of our visit to the USA, together with them, we met the Georgian wine importers and jointly discussed the issues that are necessary for us to further actively increase the export of wine to the United States of America,” - said the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Otar Shamugia, after the end of the government session, where he talked about the issues of promotion of the Georgian wine and export growth in the American market.
As the Minister noted, there are ambitious plans and much greater results can be achieved in terms of wine exports to the United States of America market. According to Otar Shamugia, readiness to support Georgia in this direction was expressed at the meeting held at USAID.
"We also had a meeting with the leadership of CNFA, and you know that this organization has been implementing a number of projects for the promotion of agriculture in Georgia for years, and they have expressed their readiness to continue these processes and support us. Also, it is important to note that we had a meeting with the World Bank officials. Today, the World Bank is implementing an irrigation support project in Georgia, the cost of which is approximately 50 million dollars, and which will be completed next year. We have already started active work on a much larger project, as part of which we think that approximately 100 million dollars will be invested for the rehabilitation of the irrigation infrastructure. The World Bank will also help us implement land management reforms and support the development of other links in the agricultural value chain. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners and colleagues for very interesting meetings and support," - the Minister of Environment and Agriculture said.
