"Yesterday and today there has been a completely unfounded agitation regarding Georgian Airways, to which a special briefing was given by Mr. Nikanor Melia [chairman of United National Movement]. We want to disappoint everyone and declare with full responsibility that Georgian Airways has not sold any tickets using the payment system company Мир.

Here, we explain, Georgian Airways has signed an agreement with the Ukrainian company WebSky.net, registered in the EU (namely, in Spain), which is an international system for selling air tickets. Through this company, many airlines, including ours, sell passenger tickets. WebSky.net makes sales through the US card systems Visa and Mastercard, as well as Мир. This system is fully connected to the Bank of Georgia. Therefore, it is impossible for our tickets to be purchased using Мир," - the statement reads. 

Simultaneously, according to the airline, Georgian Airways and its management cannot have any influence on the Ukrainian company, which voluntarily allows the access of the Мир card system within its sales system.

As for Georgian Airways, the company is currently in dire financial straits and is in the stage of bankruptcy/rehabilitation," - the airline explained.
