Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed a measured optimism about the future of Georgia–United States relations, emphasizing the potential for deepening a strategic partnership under the incoming U.S. administration while acknowledging the presence of certain challenges.
"The opposition, which supported the current administration, was defeated in elections both in Georgia and the United States. They now anticipate significant changes following January 20, including an enhanced sense of justice from the U.S. side. We are prepared to initiate a strategic partnership with the new administration, guided by a clearly defined roadmap. This approach, however, is not aligned with the interests of the radical opposition," the Prime Minister remarked.
He further commented, "President Trump may require some time to address critical challenges, such as his stated objective of overcoming the so-called 'Deep State.' While these risks exist, we remain hopeful that progress under the new administration will have a positive impact on Georgia–United States relations."
