The Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations involving the United Kingdom Ambassador Mark Clayton about initiation of direct flights between the two countries.
The Ministry said Kvrivishvili emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in the tourism and civil aviation sectors and underscored the Georgian Government’s active engagement in discussions with British Airlines to facilitate direct flights.
"We are optimistic the negotiations for the launch of direct flights will conclude with a positive outcome. Georgia’s airline market is expanding, particularly with European destinations. It is in our best interest to have the UK included among the leading European states, which will consequently have a positive impact on the growth of tourist arrivals from the country to Georgia”, - Kvrivishvili said.
Kvrivishvili added the Government was also carrying out an active promotional campaign in the UK market to showcase Georgia’s tourist attractions.
