"Agriculture, Water, and Land Policies to Scale Up Sustainable Agrifood Systems in Georgia: Synthesis Report and Way Forward" is the title of the report prepared by the World Bank to be presented today.
The event will start at 10:30 am at the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel.
According to the World Bank, the report summarizes the main constraints and opportunities that Georgia faces in amplifying the contribution of the agriculture sector to the country’s economic growth and diversification, employment creation, poverty reduction, food security and nutrition, and climate resilience and mitigation.
The event will be attended by the representatives of the public and private sectors, donors and civil society organizations and experts to discuss the reforms needed to increase the efficiency of Georgia's agricultural sector, as well as the obstacles related to agrifood systems and recommendations for overcoming them.
The event will be opened by:
• The World Bank Regional Director Sebastian Molineus;
• The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Giorgi Khanishvili;
• The Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia Ekaterine Guntsadze;
• The Chairman of LEPL National Agency of Public Registry of Georgia Oleg Tortladze;
• A Senior Water Resources Specialist at the World Bank Winston Yu.
