The volume of the economy in Georgia as a whole is 80.25 billion GEL, although a certain part of the country's economy exists in an informal form, that is, it is outside the taxable economy.

In 2023, the share of the so-called shadow economy was 12.7% of GDP, in the first quarter of this year it was 11.1%, and in the second quarter - 13.8%.

Accordingly, it turns out that in 2023 about 10.2 billion GEL was distributed to the informal economy.

The size of the unobserved economy is particularly high in the hospitality sector at 48.5%, followed by health and social service activities at 19%, and arts, entertainment and recreation at 18.3%.
