
As of March, the volume of money transferred to Georgia from abroad, compared to the same period last year, increased by 2.6% (to $193 million). The largest amount - $36 million - was transferred from Italy, followed by Russia with $27 million, from which remittances fell by 16% in one year. During the same period, a total of $70 thousand, or 99.2% less money was transferred from Ukraine.
In addition to Italy and Russia, in March, more than $10 million was transferred to Georgia from four other countries: the United States – ($26 million), Greece – ($19 million), Israel – ($17 million) and Germany – ($11 million).
The volume of money transferred to Georgia from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Spain, France, Britain, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Ireland, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Armenia and the Netherlands also exceeded $1 million.
In March, the volume of money transferred from Georgia to other countries decreased by 3.6% to $ 24 million. In this case, the largest amount - $5.1 million - was transferred to Turkey, $2.7 million - to Russia after a 64% decline, and $2.4 million - to Ukraine, decreased by 1.3%.
