“According to preliminary data, the volume of direct foreign investments made in Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2022 amounted to $ 745.3 million, which is twice as much as the adjusted data of the 3rd quarter of 2021,” - the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) reports.
Reportedly, in the III quarter of 2022, the share capital increased 6 times compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and reached $ 226.0 million, which is 30.3% of the total foreign direct investments. Reinvestment of $ 446.9 mln. amounted to 60.0%.
According to the direct foreign investments made in Georgia in the III quarter of 2022, Spain ranks first (with $ 165.9 million) among the largest investor countries. The United Kingdom ranked 2nd (with $ 122.9 million), which is 22.3 % of the total foreign direct investments (16.5%), and Ireland ranks third – ($120.3 million; 16.1 %). The share of the 10 largest investor countries is 86.5% of the total volume of investments.
In the III quarter of 2022, the most direct foreign investment was made in the sector of activities related to real estate and amounted to $ 265.3 million, which is $ 35.6 of the total foreign direct investments. The sector of financial and insurance activities ranked 2nd with $ 159.0 million (21.3 %), while the arts, entertainment and recreation sector – ranked third with $ 143.2 million (19.2 %).
