A Georgian filmmaker Levan Tutberidze’s feature film The Resting Samurai, the co-production of Georgia and the Netherlands, has been awarded the best visual arts prize, the Georgian Public Broadcaster announced.
The film, co-financed by the Public Broadcaster, was chosen by the jury for its “high artistic value”, appreciating the work of Temur Khmaladze and Ana Kalatozishvili.
The story follows a family in socially tangled Tbilisi throughout 24 hours. Tamuna, a busy woman about to leave for London and spend a few days with her lover tries to solve all the family issues before her departure. Her plans are disrupted by the unexpected return of Zaza, the family’s old friend and a thief. The urban tragic comedy depicts the collapse of stable but shallow relationships.
