The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Guram Guramishvili met with the delegation of Uzbekistan, which included the Heads of public and private organizations of the transport-logistics sector.
According to the Ministry, the delegation of Uzbekistan is paying a visit to Georgia to inspect the local transport and logistics infrastructure and to determine further cooperation. Representatives of the Georgian Railway also attended the meeting.
"Uzbekistan is interested in more active use of the transport corridor passing through Georgia. Recently, the cargo of Uzbekistan in the transport corridor of Georgia has almost doubled. We informed our Uzbek partners about the transit tariffs and port fees in the corridor, as well as introduced Georgia's transport and logistics infrastructure and future projects to them. We are glad that Uzbekistan chooses the transport corridor of Georgia for its cargo services", - the Deputy Minister Guram Guramishvili stated.
As part of the framework of the visit, the Uzbek delegation will arrive at the seaports of Poti and Batumi, as well as will inspect the free industrial zone of Poti and get acquainted with their activities. The deepening of cooperation in the field of transport between the two countries was preceded by the visit of the Georgian government delegation to Uzbekistan, headed by Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili. Within the framework of the visit, it was unequivocally noted that Georgia is one of the most important transport corridors for Uzbekistan.
