
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Guram Guramishvili met with the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Transport Abdusamat Muminov.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities of deepening the cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport and logistics. Guram Guramishvili spoke in detail about the important projects that Georgia is implementing to increase the country's transport capacity and further promote the so-called Middle Transport Corridor globally and regionally. According to him, due to the situation in the region, the interest in alternative corridors between Europe and Asia, including the Middle Transport Corridor passing through Georgia, has increased.
The Uzbek side expressed its interest in utilizing the transport and port potential of Georgia to increase the cargo turnover between the two countries.
At the meeting, negotiations were held on the increase in the volumes of container, mineral fertilizers and sugarcane shipments, for which concrete measures were set.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Land Transport Agency, the Georgian Railway, as well as the private sector.
The delegation of Uzbekistan is paying a three-day visit to Georgia, as part of which, with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, they will hold meetings with the seaport officials.
