As the US Embassy in Georgia reports, phase I of upgrading the Georgian Coast Guard's integrated coastal surveillance system has been completed successfully.
“This direct U.S. assistance also incorporated sensor equipment and control systems installed in Batumi, Poti, and Supsa. This project is part of our continued effort to support the development of the Georgian Coast Guard's capabilities to protect its territorial waters. The U.S. Navy, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy's Office of Defense Cooperation, will continue upgrades to assist Georgia in executing its maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, port security, and maritime defense responsibilities,” – the statement reads.
