
According to a document filed under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) with the U.S. Department of Justice, Georgia’s opposition party, the United National Movement (UNM), has hired U.S. lobbying firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough.
The filing, published on July 11, states that the UNM paid the firm $360,000. Petre Tsiskarishvili, UNM’s Secretary General, is listed as the foreign principal.
The agreement outlines that the lobbying firm will provide advocacy before the U.S. government, support the UNM’s diplomatic outreach in Washington, and assist in promoting free and fair elections in Georgia.
Nelson Mullins is known for contributing to political campaigns of both Republican and Democratic candidates in the U.S., including South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson.
