„The leader of the ruling party of Georgia stated that Mikheil Saakashvili's arrival in Georgia was a special operation of Ukraine in order to involve Tbilisi in the war - Ukraine has never interfered and does not plan to interfere in Georgia's internal affairs, Oleg Nikolenko, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,“ - writes in his Facebook post.
According to him, the Government of Georgia is speculating on the topic of war in Ukraine in order to achieve narrow domestic political goals.
"Georgian politicians are spreading various insinuations in order to avoid responsibility for gross violations of human rights in Georgia. Ukraine has never interfered and does not plan to interfere in Georgia's domestic affairs. At the same time, we are deeply disappointed that the Georgian Government is speculating on the topic of war in Ukraine in order to achieve its narrow domestic political goals," Nikolenko said.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on the authorities of Georgia to provide appropriate medical assistance to Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili and to satisfy a request for the postponement of the sentence.
“We repeat the call to allow the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine see Mikheil Saakashvili. I also urge you to provide proper medical care to the Ukrainian citizen, as well as to meet the request for a postponement of his sentence in order to transfer him to one of the clinics in Ukraine, Western Europe or America for further treatment," Nikolenko wrote.
