“The European Commission recommended today that accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova begin, and also that Georgia be granted EU candidate status. Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova all belong in the Euro-Atlantic family,” the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee tweeted.

The European Commission published its annual report on EU enlargement on November 8. The Commission recommended the European Council to grant Georgia the status of a European Union candidate country. The European Council will make the final decision in December.
