The premiere of the Georgian film director Maradia Tsaava's documentary “Water Has No Borders” will take place in the international competition program. The action is centred around the Enguri Hydroelectric Power Plant, a massive dam construction on River Enguri, which serves as a de-facto boundary between Georgia's Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia and the rest of the country. A journalist accidentally gets into it and tries to cross the border of the unrecognized republic of Abkhazia. The film is produced by OpyoDoc.
The German premiere of Mariam Kapanadze's debut animated work, "Abandoned Village," will also take place at the DOK Leipzig International Festival. The artist of the work is Irakli Toklikishvili, the director is Mariam Kapanadze, and the producer is Mariam Kandelaki. The world premiere of the animated film was held in Japan, at the Hokkaido International Film Festival, and since then "Abandoned Village" has been awarded in many countries.
Both Georgian films presented at the DOK Leipzig Film Festival were created with the support of the National Film Center.
It is noteworthy that the project of Elene Mikaberidze's documentary “Cadillac Dreams” will be presented at DOK Co-Pro Market. The projects on the industrial platform were selected from 36 countries.
The 64th film festival will be held on October 25-31.
