
“The turnover of the business sector in 2021, compared to the corresponding period of last year, increased by 31.5% and amounted to GEL 150.4 billion,” - the Georgian National Statistics Office (GEOSTAT) stated.
Reportedly, the production rate of the business sector is also characterized by a growth trend. In 2021, its volume was determined at GEL 57.6 billion, which is 24.6% higher than last year.
"In 2021, 65.3% of the total turnover includes large businesses, 16.2% - medium-sized businesses, and 18.5% - small businesses. The situation is slightly different in the case of the total output of products: large businesses account for 46.8% of output, medium businesses - 24.4%, and small businesses - 28.7%.
The total purchases of goods and services made by enterprises in 2021 amounted to GEL 81.4 billion and purchases of goods and services intended for resale – GEL 51.8 billion. Total purchases of goods and services increased by 25.1%, and purchases of goods and services intended for resale - by 26% compared to last year.
In 2021, the average number of employees was determined at 744.3 thousand people, which is 5.7% higher than last year. Out of the total number of employees, 42% are women, and 58% are men.
38.2% of the total number of employees are from large businesses, 19.7% - from medium-sized businesses, and the remaining 42.1% - from small businesses.
The total number of employees was 688.1 thousand people (4.8% more than last year). Total expenses of enterprises for personnel amounted to GEL 11 357.8 mln (compared to last year - 15.6% more). In 2021, the average monthly salary in the business sector equaled GEL 1,347.6 (increased by GEL 124.7 compared to last year), including women's salary - GEL 1,064.3 (increased by GEL 112.3 compared to last year).
The average monthly salary according to the size of the enterprises is as follows:
Large business - GEL 1 515.4,
Medium-sized business – GEL 1 616.9,
Small-sized business - GEL 1 008.4.
In 2021, the highest share - 36.4% - in the turnover structure of the business sector is held by the trade sector (including repair of automobiles and motorcycles); arts, entertainment and recreation sectors ranked 2nd with a 32.0% share, followed by manufacturing sector - with a 9.8% share, construction - with a 5.5% share, transportation and warehousing - with a 4.6% share, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning - with a 3.2% share, and the remaining 8.5% is distributed to other fields.
In 2021, manufacturing industry (24.4%) and trade (18.4%) ranked 1st and 2nd in terms of the product launch of the business sector, followed by construction (15.8%) and transport and warehousing - with a share of 8.8%, while the rest of the sectors have a 32.6% share in the sector.
According to the number of employees in the business sector in 2021, trade (wholesale and retail trade; repair of automobiles and motorcycles), manufacturing industry, and health and social services are leading (with shares of 28.6%, 12.5%, and 10.3%, respectively). However, a significant share is distributed to the enterprises in the field of construction (8.6%), transport and warehousing (8.4%), accommodation and food supply (4.5%), and information and communication activities (4.1%)," - the Georgian National Statistics Office (GEOSTAT) declared.
