
According to the 10 month data of the current year, the trade turnover of Georgia and Turkey has exceeded $ 2 billion. Thus, neighboring Turkey ranked 1st among Georgia's top trading partners with a 15.1% share.
Taking the same periods of the last 10 years into account, the trade between the countries ranged from $ 1.2 to $ 1.6 billion, although in 2022 this number increased. In January-October 2022, compared to the same period last year, the trade between Georgia and Turkey increased by 36.5% and amounted to $ 2.3 billion.
The largest share in trade - 83.4% - belongs to imports, therefore, Georgia purchased various goods worth of $ 1.9 billion from Turkey this year, which is a record import rate in the last ten years. In total, the share of Turkey in the total import of Georgia was determined by 17.9%.
It is clear from the statistics that the highest growth in the segment of light vehicles was recorded among the largest import goods in this period.
As for exports, in 10 months of this year, Georgia earned $ 379.1 million from the export of goods, which is 45.5% higher than the figure of the same period last year. According to these indicators, neighboring Turkey with a share of 8.3% occupies the fifth place among Georgia's top-ten trading partners by exports.
It should be noted that for 10 months, the country received the largest income from the export of electricity to Turkey, while last year electricity was ranked seventh in the list of export goods. Accordingly, the increase compared to the previous year is 930.7%.
