“Kazakhstan aims to increase the capacity of the Trans-Caspian international transport route,” – the acting chairman of the Transport Committee under the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kasim Tlepov said.
As reported by Trend, in particular, it is planned to create a container hub in the special economic zone of the Aktau sea port, which will allow Kazakhstan to increase cargo turnover on the Trans-Caspian transport route. The global logistics companies will participate in the project.
Also, due to the shortage of ferry fleet in the Caspian Sea, the government of Kazakhstan plans to create its own ferry fleet consisting of 10 units.
"We are faced with the task of increasing the capacity of the Trans-Caspian international transport route," - Kasim Tlepov said.
According to him, the Trans-Caspian international transport route is one of the alternative ways to diversify the Kazakh transit and export.
The route passes through the territory of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and goes to Europe.
Recently, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym Tokayev, instructed the government to find alternative ways of transport and transit. The President believes that "the priority direction is the Trans-Caspian route".
