
TBC Capital presented an updated study on the Adjara tourism and macroeconomic indicators.
According to the review, tourism in Adjara continues to recover strongly. As per the May data, 319,796 international visits were recorded in the country. The income received from travel amounted to $259 million, which means a 96% recovery of the 2019 figure.
Additionally, compared to the other regions of the country, the recovery of tourism in Batumi is even stronger. In the first quarter, 173,000 international and 368,000 local visits were recorded in Batumi.
As for the international tourists arriving at the Batumi Airport, the largest share, as in previous years, is occupied by Israeli citizens.
According to the May 2022 data, hotel occupancy is 70%, and the average daily hotel price is $90. TBC Capital forecasts a 85% hotel occupancy and 320,000 visitors in summer.
Compared to 2019, expenditures by visitors from Saudi Arabia increased 15 times, while - from Belarus - increased 40 times. During the first 5 months of 2022, spending on gambling in Adjara has been significantly reduced.
