
“We have started a project together with the World Bank and have invested GEL 26 million in the Georgian startups,” - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said in response to the questions asked by the MPs during the presentation of the annual report on the government performance.
According to the Prime Minister, these startups attracted investment worth of more than GEL 300 million last year and their income has exceeded GEL 30 million in the last 12 months.
"This is a real result of the fact that when the state and the government help businesses and startups properly, the result is obvious.
I would also like to tell you that we are implementing unprecedented training programs in the IT sector. 3000 specialists are currently being trained. This year we want to start training of 5000 IT specialists. It will be a large-scale program and we need to increase it even more," - the Prime Minister stated.
