Following the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Rome, Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili voiced optimism that relations between Georgia and the Vatican would remain "as close and tight as before," emphasizing the significance of this relationship for the country.
Speaking after the ceremony, Botchorishvili highlighted the importance of future dialogue: “We had the opportunity to greet the new Pope. We will have the chance to discuss with him the priorities that Georgia has.”
She also noted the high level of international attendance at the event, stating, “The inauguration of the new Pope has taken place. High-level guests from various countries attended the event. Georgia’s President also participated in this ceremony together with our delegation.”
