As Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV Georgia, stated, in 2022, the Tbilisi International Airport will serve 3 million passengers. According to her, it will be difficult for the airport to return to the pre-pandemic level in 2023, despite the fact that negotiations are underway with various airlines.
“Of course, this is not the figure we expected, but it is very good and we think 2023 will be much better than 2022. We have negotiations with a number of airlines, which I will refrain from talking about until we reach a final agreement. In this particular case, negotiations are underway with four airlines. The government is helping us a lot in order to schedule such flights, which have not been performed from Tbilisi, these are the point-to-point destinations of Asia and Europe", - Zakaradze said.
"Next year we are expecting at least 100 airlines and we are fully ready for it," - she added.
The Chinese airline China Southern Airlines is returning to the Georgian market.
Tea Zakaradze also spoke about the Tbilisi International Airport Master Plan and noted that work on it was almost finished. “We think we will be able to present it to the government in January. As for the Batumi Airport Master Plan, it will be ready in February,” - General Manager of TAV Georgia stated.
