In the 10 months of 2022, wine exports increased by 6.2%. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in January-October of this year, wine worth of almost 201 million US dollars was exported from Georgia.
Export of Georgian wine to Russia has increased in particular. According to statistics, wine worth of $129 million was exported to Russia in 10 months, while this indicator was $106 million in the corresponding period last year. The increase is 21.6%. Also, Russia's share in the total export of Georgian wine has increased to almost 65%. After Russia, Poland replaces Ukraine in wine exports. In the past years, it was Ukraine that was the second market for wine produced in Georgia. According to the GEOSTAT, wine worth of $12.3 million was exported to Poland. China ranked 3rd with the revenue of $10.5 million.
It should be noted that last year the export of wine reached a record level, although Russia still held a dominant position in the export of Georgian wine. As the National Wine Agency of Georgia reported, as of 2021, the share of exports to the Russian market was 57%, which is the lowest figure both before imposing the embargo (when 87% was occupied by the Russian market) and taking into account the following years of the embargo cancellation.
