Major hazelnut producers will increase production in the 2022/23 annual season. This is stated in the statistical data of the round table organized by the Congress of the International Nut & Dried Fruit Council (INC).
According to the INC's forecast, in the 2022/23 annual season, Georgia, like the current season, will produce 55,000 tons of shelled nuts, and with the same rate as Chile, China and Azerbaijan, it ranks 7th. However, with the addition of 5 thousand tons remaining from the current season, the total supply of Georgia will be 60 thousand tons, thus the country takes the fourth place after the top three countries. As for hazelnut kernels, Georgia and Azerbaijan share the sixth-seventh place with the same yield of 20,900 tons. Chile ranks 4th with a harvest of 23,100 tons, and China - 5th with 22,000 tons. However, in terms of delivery volume, Georgia is promoted here as well and will reach 22,800 tons in addition to the 1,900 tons left over from the previous season. In this regard, Georgia ranks 5th after the top three and Chile (23,310 tons). China ranks 6th with 22,600 tons, and Azerbaijan - seventh with 22,040 tons.
The total forecasted global harvest of hazelnut kernels amounted to 590,685 tons, while the supply includes 652,415 tons.
