According to the Ministry, the parties discussed the current projects funded by the EIB and the details of future cooperation.
"The European Investment Bank is one of the largest development partners of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. The bank finances a number of important projects in Georgia, such as gas infrastructure, water supply and sewerage and municipal infrastructure development. At today's meeting, we discussed the progress of important projects ongoing in the country with the support of the European Investment Bank, which was positively assessed. We also talked about the important results that we plan to discuss this year and the prospects for the development of cooperation, "- said the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze.
With the financial support of the EIB, two sections of the Rikoti Pass (Chumateleti-Khevi and Ubisa-Shorapani), which are part of the East-West expressway, as well as the Samtredia-Grigoleti expressway sections I and IV and Grigolet-Kobuleti bypass road, are currently under construction in the country. With the support of the bank, kindergartens of modern standards are being built in different regions of Georgia, rehabilitation-construction design of the sewage system in Kutaisi, construction of the Gurjaani Central Park and others are underway.
As a result of these projects, the time required for travel and transportation will be reduced, traffic safety will be upgraded, tourism and international traffic will be developed, and the living conditions of the population will be improved. In addition, the implementation of infrastructure projects will create additional jobs.
