During the first 5 months of 2023, the import of eyeglasses and similar optical devices to Georgia increased. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), 73 tons of goods worth $3 million 656 thousand were imported to Georgia this year.
Compared to the same period last year, the value of purchased goods increased by 51.1%, and the volume - by 21.9%. Therefore, the value of imported goods increased during January-May.
China ranks 1st among the import markets. A total of 56 tons of eyeglasses and similar optical devices worth $1 million 675 thousand were imported from this direction this year. The second country from which imports are made is Italy. During the reporting period, 4 tons of goods worth $1 million 372 thousand were imported from Italy.
Eyeglasses and similar optical devices were imported in small volumes from France, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Spain and Russia.
