“In 2022, the contribution of the influx of migrants to the 10% economic growth was about 1.5 percentage points,” - said Koba Gvenetadze, the President of the National Bank of Georgia.
According to Koba Gvenetadze, the double-digit economic growth was mainly due to the rapid recovery of tourism and the opening of businesses.
"The influx of visitors, in turn, increased the demand for accommodation and catering services, which was reflected in the growth of the joint demand. If we estimate a 10% economic growth in 2022, even without the factor of visitor inflow, the growth would still be high. Tourism and other businesses recovered quite quickly last year, indicating that the economy has shown steadiness to shocks. I will make an assessment and say that the contribution of migrants to the economic growth was 1.5 percentage points", - said Koba Gvenetadze.
Regarding the dynamics of nominal salary growth in the country, the president of the National Bank, Koba Gvenetadze, said that the trend of salary growth is higher than the productivity of employees.
