“There is a lot of speculation around this topic, that some decisions can be made without rationality, pragmatism, expediency, which is absolutely baseless,” - the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said, while talking about the Anaklia deep-water port project.
"Our agencies cooperate with all potential investors. The Chinese have an interest in investing in an important infrastructure project, including the Anaklia port, because this project is very interesting from an economic point of view in the long term. If we increase the capacity and cargo volumes of the railway in Georgia, as well as in Azerbaijan, on the Caspian Sea, as well as we’ll expand the capacity of Kazakhstan and other countries. This or that project can be evaluated from the international point of view, so the Chinese and not only Chinese companies, other investors are also carefully observing what the dynamics will be in terms of the development of the same middle corridor, and therefore the success of the Anaklia project is directly related to this,"- Davitashvili said.
