In celebration of the Republic of Guatemala’s Independence Day, the Tbilisi flagpole was lit up in the colors of the Guatemalan flag.

Guatemala gained independence from Spain in 1821 and marks its national holiday every year on September 15 with various festive events.

In 2023, the Honorary Consulate of Guatemala was established in Tbilisi, and Giorgi Choladze was appointed as the Honorary Consul.
