The Famous Swedish filmmaker Ruben Ostlund visited the Svaneti International Film Festival Dali this year to promote the National Cinematography Center.

The world-renowned director and Bacho Odisharia, the head of the Film Production Department of the National Cinema Center of Georgia, held a master class on Hatsvali for festival guests and young directors.

The meeting was conducted in question-and-answer mode. Attendees learned more about filmmakers’ professional experiences, lives, and works. Ruben Ostlund answered questions about how the film industry could be successful.

The festival is a beautiful opportunity for young filmmakers to advance and develop their careers. This is the purpose of the film project competition provided by the festival program. The Georgian and foreign young filmmakers presented their ideas and film projects to the international jury and then answered questions from interested parties regarding their plans and film projects.

International Film Festival programmers held a working meeting, answered questions from festival guests and young filmmakers, and discussed their work, the terms, and the format of the festivals they represent.

Ruben Austlund’s film retrospective continues in the open-air cinema on Set Square. This time, the audience saw the 2014 film Formajor, which was introduced by the director himself.

The festival’s goal is to support the implementation of young filmmakers’ projects at all stages and promote the development of the Georgian film industry. It also provides young, talented filmmakers, producers, and writers with opportunities to learn more from experienced professionals. Ruben Ostlund’s work and introductory character meetings are excellent opportunities to realize the festival’s goals. 

The Svaneti International Film Festival was founded in 2021 by filmmaker Mariam Khachvani with the promotion of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
