The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili met with the representatives of the British company Steer, which are conducting research on the Georgian airport sector with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank. The study covers the period until 2032.
As the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, it was mentioned at the meeting that during the research, the capacity of the local and international airports in Georgia, as well as their readiness to serve the number of passengers expected until 2032 would be assessed. The research aims to determine the need for airport expansion and to find alternative ways of its development. In addition, the assessment will be made in terms of both so-called passenger and cargo terminals.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, the most important thing is to develop a long-term action plan for the development of airports in Georgia based on the results of the research on the airports.
As part of the research, aviation and airport sector experts will hold meetings with representatives of the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, Tbilisi and Batumi Airport Operator TAV Georgia, National Tourism Administration, private sector officials, etc.
