In the first half of 2023, the import of sunflower oil into Georgia increased. According to official statistics, during this period, 16,631 tons of sunflower oil worth $19,659,000 were imported into the country, which is 41% higher in value and 125% higher in volume than the figure recorded in same period last year.
It should be noted that the value of 17,592 tons of sunflower oil imported during the 6 months of 2021 amounted to $26 million. Therefore, we can say that the price of sunflower oil in the international market has decreased this year compared to previous years.
Over the years, the main sunflower oil import market for Georgia was Russia, and in the first half of the year, 87.8% of sunflower oil imports were made from Russia.

1. Russia - $16.7 million, 14,596 tons;
2. Ukraine - $2.5 million, 1 754 tons;
3. Azerbaijan - $243 thousand, 154 tons;
4. Turkey - $98 thousand, 60 tons;
5. Belarus - $76 thousand, 51 tons.
In addition to these countries, small amounts of sunflower, linseed and cottonseed oil were imported from Italy, France, and Germany.
