Sandro Kumsishvili, the chief winemaker of the Badagoni Wine Company, believes that the government’s plan to subsidize Georgian winegrowers and the similar type of cooperation between the private business and the state are important for the development of the wine industry and will determine the further success of Georgian wine in the international markets.
"We are monitoring the grape quality and are expecting a good harvest, which will affect the quality of the wine in the future. This is important for the success of Georgian wine in international markets in the coming years. This kind of cooperation between the private business and the state has been going on for the 8th, 9th year already, and this will have a positive impact on the development of the winemaking and viticulture sector," - Sandro Kumsiashvili said.
The Georgian government plans to subsidize the harvest in 2022 as well. According to the Prime Minister, the subsidy program will cost a total of GEL 150 million. Moreover, as Gharibashvili said, the price of one kilogram of white grapes will be at least 90 tetris. The winegrowers are expecting an abundant harvest of grapes this year, and for them, grape subsidies are important and relevant in 2022, as well.
The vintage 2022 will officially begin in late August.
