
Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, met with Fayzali Idizoda, the Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Assembly of Representatives) of Tajikistan, during the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
According to the Parliament's press office, Papuashvili congratulated Idizoda on his success in the Parliamentary elections and subsequent election as Speaker of the Assembly of Representatives.
The two leaders emphasized the strong and friendly relations between Georgia and Tajikistan. They noted that 2024 marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, which serves as a foundation for further enhancing parliamentary cooperation.
The formation of Friendship Groups in both Parliaments was identified as a key priority for strengthening bilateral relations in the near future, along with the development of connections between the respective parliamentary committees.
Idizoda extended an invitation to Papuashvili to visit Tajikistan, further underlining the commitment to deepening the ties between the two nations.
