
The sitting of the bilateral joint commission of experts of the competent bodies of Georgia and the Republic of Turkey in the field of road transport was held. The event was opened by Levan Gamkrelidze, the Head of the LEPL Land Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The meeting touched upon the important issues in the field of international road traffic, such as compliance with the requirements of the intergovernmental agreement operating in the field of road traffic by the parties and the issue of quoting/exchanging quota permits for two-way traffic, as well as regular passenger traffic, etc.
During the two-day meeting, which was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Tbilisi, the recent obstacles in the field of road traffic were discussed and specific ways to solve them were outlined; attention was also paid to the optimization of road transport quotas and the additional issuance of the Turkish freight permits to Georgia, and an agreement was reached.
"The session of the Georgian-Turkish joint commission was held very successfully. It is noteworthy that this meeting was held after the September 2021 meeting; practically, in 6 months we were able to meet with our colleagues to discuss the current issues in the field of road transport," Gamkrelidze said.
The meeting ended with the signing of a protocol, which defined all the current directions in the field of road traffic.
