Simplified visa-free travel between Georgia and Armenia comes into force

A deal between Georgia and Armenia came into force, allowing their nationals to cross the border using biometric identification cards.
The agreement was signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan on January 12 in Yerevan, which replaced the agreement on visa-free movement of citizens of Armenia and Georgia through their territories concluded on May 19, 1993.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry said the new deal aimed to establish even more favourable conditions for Georgian and Armenian citizens.
