
“The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line has transported about 540,000 tons of cargo this year, which is 26.1% more than the volume recorded in 2021,” – the Chairman of the Azerbaijani Railways CJSC, Rovshan Rustamov, announced this.
According to him, 428 thousand tons of cargo were transported by BTK last year.
"The construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line started in 2007, the first line was commissioned in 2017. The 850-kilometer road opens up huge opportunities, including the access to the European space today creates a huge potential on the western route", - Rovshan Rustamov stated.
Rovshan Rustamov said the Azerbaijani side completed the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, while from the Georgian side - 86% was complete.
To be informed, on August 18, the Heads of the Customs Administrations of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey signed an agreement on preliminary data exchange within the framework of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project in order to simplify customs transit procedures.
