The National Environmental Agency has issued a weather alert for Georgia from the second half of August 8 through August 11, warning of thunderstorms amid continued high temperatures. The forecast includes heavy rainfall in some regions, strong westerly winds, and the possibility of hail.

Meteorologists also predict 3–4 point storm surges along the coast, raising concerns for maritime conditions.

“The expected precipitation could lead to flash floods on smaller rivers across the country, while landslides and debris flows may occur or worsen in hilly and mountainous areas,” the agency reported, adding that the current threat level is moderate.
