
“A regional digital connection summit will be held in Tbilisi, dedicating to the development of inter-regional digital corridors,” - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reports.
“The countries of Europe, Central Asia, China and the Caucasus region will participate in the summit. The event will be organized by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Communications Commission and the World Bank.
The digital connection summit is of a regional scale and we have invited representatives of the leading telecom operators and profile public agencies of the region's countries to Tbilisi. This summit is the first in the telecommunications sector to be held in Georgia after the pandemic. The event will be a platform to bring together the field stakeholders from the South Caucasus and neighboring regions to outline the development potential of international digital connectivity corridors between Europe and Asia, to discuss and identify opportunities and challenges for the development of stronger international digital connectivity in the South Caucasus region.
The potential of the South Caucasus region as the main hub for the development of inter-regional digital connectivity networks between Europe and Asia will be well presented at the summit. In addition, through the improvement of the international Internet connection, the emphasis will be placed on the opportunities of investments and international cooperation and the role of Georgia as a country supporting the development of these corridors," - Guram Guramishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, declared.
