The Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili emphasized that “protecting Georgia's interests” entails safeguarding the nation’s security, stability, economic growth, and pursuit of a genuinely European future.
Speaking at the closing session of the annual Ambassadors’ Conference, which brought together heads of Georgian diplomatic missions, Botchorishvili highlighted that while the country faces numerous challenges, these also present significant opportunities that must be fully utilized for the benefit of Georgia.
“In the complex geopolitical environment of today, our unity and strength are particularly vital,” the Minister remarked. “Protecting Georgia's interests today means fighting for our country's security, stability, economic development, and a truly European future. Alongside the challenges, there are many opportunities that we must not miss but instead fully seize for the benefit of our country.”
The Foreign Minister also underscored Georgia’s strategic role as a “bridge between the West and the East,” noting that fulfilling this function requires careful analysis of geopolitical dynamics and concerted effort.
“The implementation of our country's critical role as a bridge between the West and the East has never been more pressing. Building this bridge demands an accurate assessment of the geopolitical situation and substantial work to maximize the benefits for our nation,” she added.
Botchorishvili further emphasized the pivotal role of diplomats in fostering relations with international partners and countering disinformation campaigns about Georgia. She highlighted the ongoing struggle against Russian occupation, advocating for the use of all international legal mechanisms to advance peaceful efforts toward the reunification of the country.
“Our foremost concern remains the fight against [Russian] occupation, utilizing all international legal tools to pursue peaceful efforts for the reunification of our country,” she stated.
The Minister also called for increased international recognition of Georgia’s progress, urging active engagement with international organizations to amplify the country’s achievements.
“The steps and progress made by Georgia should not go unnoticed by the international community. To ensure this, we must actively leverage the opportunities offered by our membership in international organizations,” Botchorishvili concluded.
