
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili was hosted by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, along with other world leaders, during the opening ceremony of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
In a statement shared on Facebook, President Kavelashvili noted:
“UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hosted me, along with other world leaders, at the opening ceremony of the 80th session of the General Assembly. I also held brief meetings with my colleagues. The general debate officially opened today, and I will address world leaders from the UN rostrum on September 25.”
President Kavelashvili’s participation underscores Georgia’s ongoing engagement with global multilateral institutions and its commitment to international dialogue on peace, development, and human rights—the central themes of this year’s session.
