Sommelier Giorgi Dartsimelia believes that the export of Georgian wine to China should focus on the high category market, for which a specially arranged plan and strategy is needed - a written formula by which Georgian wine will be promoted in that segment accordingly.
Last year, 101,662 tons of wine worth $252.5 million were exported from Georgia, which was a record figure in the history of wine sales. In the wine export geography last year, China ranked fourth and the volume of wine sold in this direction was only 3.7%. Last year, Georgia earned $12.5 million from the sale of natural grape wines in China, and the volume of transshipped goods amounted to 3,780 tons. It is also noted that according to official statistics, wine sales in China will decrease by 23.5% in 2022.
