
According to preliminary data, the livestock sector in Georgia showed mixed results in the first quarter of 2025. The total number of bovine animals decreased by 4.9 percent compared to Q1 2024, reaching 861.1 thousand heads. Among these, dairy cows and buffaloes totaled 396.3 thousand heads, marking a 4.3 percent decline from the previous year.
The number of pigs also saw a decrease, dropping by 2.2 percent to 152.0 thousand heads, compared to the same period in 2024.
In contrast, poultry numbers experienced significant growth, rising by 11.3 percent year-on-year to reach 8.5 million heads.
Milk production fell by 3.4 percent, totaling 108.5 million liters in Q1 2025, while meat production decreased by 6.4 percent, amounting to 17.5 thousand tons.
However, egg production showed positive growth, increasing by 2.2 percent from the previous year to reach 172.0 million eggs in the first quarter of 2025.
