During the visit, a PPRD East 3 expert - David Mitso visited Kakheti region. He visited the fire-rescue departments in Telavi and Sighnaghi and got acquainted with the current situation on the spot. Meetings were also held with the State Representative in the Kakheti Region, Irakli Shioshvili, and the Georgian Red Cross Society offcials. The main purpose of the visit was to assess priorities and draw up a three-year action plan.
The PPRD is an EU technical expertise project mainly aimed to prevent and respond to the natural and man-made emergencies in the Eastern Partnership countries. In the first stage of the program implementation in Georgia, working groups consisting of various government agencies and experts were established, in which the leading agency is the Emergency Management Service.
