Poti Port Operator APM Terminals has received a record number of 592,589 units (TEU) over the past year, which is more than 234,732 containers compared to 2022 and has been a record indicator since the existence of the port.
According to the port operator, last year, the Poti Port Transport Services received a total of 80,454 cars, which was a 69%-increase annually.
However, the intake rate of container vessels increased by 56%. In 2023 Georgia's largest port received 330 container ships.
Unlike container cargo, the volume of bulk cargo has been reduced compared to the previous year, which, according to the port management, is due to the increase in demand for and the priority of container cargo. Specifically, 54% decreased bulk cargo volume, which amounted to about 303 thousand tons.
